Help California’s Native Wildlife at Tax Time

No, we aren’t helping wildlife file their taxes. Well, for some of us, filing taxes can feel a bit like teaching income taxes to a beaver. For California taxpayers, now there’s something we can all look forward to this tax season…helping SAVE wildlife!

While filing your California taxes consider contributing to the Native California Wildlife Rehabilitation Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund (Line 439 on Tax Form 540). This fund helps sick, injured and orphaned wildlife by providing grants to permitted wildlife rehabilitation facilities, like Gold Country Wildlife Rescue, that partner with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife to rehabilitate wildlife.

This spring and summer we are receiving hundreds of orphaned and injured wildlife needing our help at Gold Country Wildlife Rescue. These funds provide permitted wildlife rehabbers, like us, with veterinarian treatment, animal care, facility maintenance, and conservation education. As a growing “wildlife rescue” resource to our local community and statewide, we need your support to provide more rehabilitative care to more wildlife.

By donating to the Native California Wildlife Rehabilitation Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund you will help support quality practices in the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of wildlife statewide. Your contribution will help keep California the most biodiverse state in the U.S. and one of the most biodiverse regions in the world!

For more information about donating at tax time, please visit the CDFW tax check-off webpage at https://wildlife.ca.gov/Tax-Donation. Thank you for Donating!
