Gold Country Wildlife Rescue is excited to announce the appointment of Galen M. Gentry to its Board of Directors. A seasoned attorney with a strong commitment to community and conservation, Galen brings a dynamic and valuable perspective to the organization’s leadership.
Galen currently serves as Counsel at Downey Brand LLP in Sacramento, where he represents individuals and businesses in complex litigation matters involving partnership disputes, employment law, judgment enforcement, and business torts. He also plays a key leadership role in supervising junior attorneys and support staff.
Prior to joining Downey Brand LLP, Galen was a Partner at both Hughey Gentry, LLP, and Hughey Phillips, LLP, in Sacramento, where he built a distinguished practice representing individuals and small to mid-sized businesses in a broad range of legal matters. His work included litigating contract disputes, corporate governance issues, and franchise violations, as well as negotiating commercial contracts and advising clients on regulatory compliance, intellectual property licensing, and bankruptcy matters.
Galen earned his Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law in 2003, where he participated in the Civil Rights Clinic and the Unemployment Action Center. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, from the University of California, Davis, and was honored with the Departmental Citation for Outstanding Achievement in the English Department. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and the Golden Key National Honor Society.
Admitted to the California Bar, Galen is also licensed to practice before the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Northern Districts of California, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
A passionate outdoorsman, Galen enjoys road cycling, mountain biking, hiking, and trail running activities that reflect his deep appreciation for nature and wildlife.
