A Seasonal Field Bulletin from Gold Country Wildlife Rescue
Attention community partners, trail helpers, and wildlife supporters!
Summer has arrived, and with it comes one of the busiest seasons in wildlife rehabilitation.
From June 15 through July 15, Gold Country Wildlife Rescue is inviting wildlife supporters throughout our community to join Mission Possible, our annual summer supply drive benefiting the thousands of orphaned and injured wild animals that will pass through our care this year.
This is the heart of our work.
And this is where YOU come in.
SEASONAL CONDITIONS: VERY ACTIVE
Each year, we care for approximately 4,000 wild animals across more than 150 species. From nestling birds to young mammals learning independence, every patient requires steady nutrition, safe enclosures, and specialized care.
Last year, the average cost of care was approximately $350 per animal, and with rising costs across food, medical supplies, and daily operations, every form of support makes a meaningful difference.
Monetary donations keep the lights on, but supplies keep care in motion.
YOUR ROLE IN THE FIELD
We invite you to take part in our Mission Possible Summer Wildlife Supply Drive by helping gather essential rehabilitation supplies to help keep our vital work going.
Whether you’re an individual supporter, a classroom, a workplace, or a community group, your participation directly supports the care of wildlife patients from fawns to owls and hummingbirds to bears – our doors are open to all orphaned, injured, or sick wildlife in need.

IMPORTANT DONATION GUIDELINES
To ensure the safety and effectiveness of animal care, we can only accept items from the approved supply lists above.
When a specific brand or type is listed, it is because it has been carefully selected for wildlife health and rehabilitation needs.
Every item matters, from cleaning and office supplies to formula to food items that help young animals grow strong enough to return to the wild.

CLOSING NOTE FROM THE FIELD
Every season brings its challenges, but it also brings an extraordinary outpouring of community support.
A single box of supplies might seem small. But in our wildlife hospital, it becomes food for a recovering owl, bedding for a young mammal, or clean space for a bird learning to fly again.
This is what makes rehabilitation possible.
Not the effort of one but the effort of many.
