First Black Bear Cub Patients of 2024

We are so glad we have been working hard on Summit University and finished it just a few weeks ago! Why? Because we just received our first Black Bear cubs of 2024. These two wild orphaned cubs need help, and we’re ready to offer it to them.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife delivered these little ones to us after they were each found separately (at different times; they are not siblings) in Yosemite near the Wawona Hotel. One’s mother was confirmed to have been hit by a car, while the other’s mother was not located. So, while these two orphaned cubs had a rough start to life, we are going to do everything we can to help them stay wild, grow strong, and find their way back to the wilderness this coming spring.

Without further ado, we introduce to you “Wawona” (ID# 24-3297) and “Hetch” (ID#24-3296). While we typically do not name any animals that come into our care because they are NOT PETS, we give names to bear cubs that come into our care for quick and easy reference because they are with us for so long before they can return to the wild.

As always, we’ll do our best to keep you updated on their progress and share pictures and videos of their rehabilitation experience along the way. If you’d like to help support the costly care that these cubs will require, you can do so here or by visiting our website to check out other donation opportunities.
