Education

Gold Country Wildlife Rescue is committed to outreach and education. By educating children and adults alike about wildlife ecology, biology and conservation, we help everyone learn how to live harmoniously with wildlife while protecting our environment.

We've Gone Virtual!

Gold Country Wildlife Rescue is growing, with animal intakes significantly increasing over the last few years, purchase of our new property that we are working hard to build out so we can make the final move, and a growing team of amazing employees, volunteers, and ambassador animals. We are also currently revamping our education program (stay tuned for more information and opportunities to participate) including continuing to build out a well-rounded virtual educational platform.

We are excited about going virtual as we will be able to share so much more with so many more people at one time. By increasing access through virtual presentations and videos we can provide more awareness and education both locally as well as around the world!   In 2023 alone we reached over 3 million people with our educational content online. Join our email list, keep an eye on our website and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter to enjoy our educational videos and presentations.

Educational Event Requests

At this time, we are not offering presentations that include our ambassador animals due to concerns surrounding Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza. This webpage will be updated when this becomes available again.

NOTE: Presentation availability is limited by staff and resource capacity.

  • Group Education Event Requests – Intended for schools, civic groups, and other education-focused groups of 30 people or more interested in a presentation about Gold Country Wildlife Rescue, how we help local wildlife, human impact on local wildlife, and how we can peacefully and happily cohabitate with our wild neighbors.
  • Community Education Event Requests – our team may be able to attend community events to provide education and outreach to the public. This normally includes a table or booth where we provide information, and talk with the public. We also can provide education presentations at community events.
  • We do not provide entertainment presentations – this includes private birthday parties or similar events that are looking for fun or interesting animals for guests to interact with.

"If we can teach people about wildlife, they will be touched. Share my wildlife with me. Because humans want to save things that they love."

-Steve Irwin

For more information or to request a presentation, please fill out the form on this page. When completing the form, please be sure to be as specific as possible about what you are looking for so we can be sure to get your request to the right place.

  • Programs start at $175 per 30-45 minute presentation (in-person minimum – 30 people).
  • In-person groups larger than 75 are subject to an additional fee.
  • Payment is due at the time of the event.
  • Returned checks incur a $25 fee.

Please Note: We do not currently offer public tours or in-person presentations at our location. Our mission is to rehabilitate and release the animals in our care which means reducing their interaction with and exposure to humans as much as possible to keep them stress-free and wild. Thank you for supporting us in this work.

Note: Next steps in education! We are working to design and develop an education center (including a classroom area as well as an outdoor area to visit all of our ambassador animals) at our new location. This will likely not be available before 2025, but we will be updating this page as things progress. If you’re interested in learning more about our new location, please visit our Capital Campaign Page
