Scrub Jay survivorsScrub Jays (Aphelocoma coerulescens) are from the family Corvidae, which includes crows and ravens.  This family has one of the highest intelligence of all the birds.  Many of the species can be taught how to speak and all of them are quite clever in finding food.

These two babies are the sole survivors of a nest of three that had been knocked out of the top of tree, about 35 feet above the ground.  They were raised successfully by John and Deb Kirkpatrick, and then transferred to Joe Marman's flight cage to give them flight experience before being released.
